FAQ: The Creator's Compendium
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Will you be using a pledge manager?

Yes, we’ve teamed up with Backerkit for this project. After the campaign is finished, we’ll send out an email with a link to a survey where you’ll be able to fill out your shipping information, upgrade your pledge level, pay for shipping/VAT, and grab additional add-ons.

How do I pay for shipping/VAT?

Shipping costs for physical rewards (and VAT for EU/UK backers) are not charged on Kickstarter and will be collected through our pledge manager partner Backerkit.

Once the campaign has been wrapped up, we’ll send you an email with a link to a survey where you can upgrade your pledge level, grab additional add-ons, and pay for shipping costs (and VAT, if applicable) based on your address and rewards.

For more details on shipping costs, check out the “Shipping Fees” graphic in the Fulfillment section on our Kickstarter page and the “Shipping & VAT Estimates” section in this FAQ.

Shipping & VAT Estimates

All physical rewards are customs-friendly for backers in the US, UK, EU, CANADA, AUS, and NZ, which means the estimated costs include everything – no unexpected GST/VAT/DUTY fees and surcharges!

SHIPPING ESTIMATES Our books are produced in the EU and are either shipped directly to you from our warehouse in Denmark or shipped to you locally by our fulfillment partner in the US, Flying Cloud.

Eventyr Games has already funded five Kickstarter campaigns and has established long-term partnerships on distribution – which is why we’re confident that our shipping estimates are as precise (and inexpensive!) as possible. We’ve also included VAT in the price estimates for EU/UK backers to avoid any unexpected fees and annoying surcharges for backers!

For a breakdown of the estimated shipping costs based on your reward tier and region, you can refer to the Shipping Estimates graphic on our Kickstarter page. If you have any shipping questions or just want a detailed breakdown based on your specific location, you are also more than welcome to reach out to us directly at [email protected].

Production, Fulfillment Schedule, and Early Delivery

The Creator’s Compendium is almost finished and Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities is well underway, which is why we’re confident we can deliver digital PDFs by August 2024 and physical copies for both titles no later than December 2024.

For a visual overview of our production and fulfillment schedule, you can check out the fulfillment section on the Kickstarter page.

How do I make sure I get my Early Bird rewards?

If you pledge for The Creator’s Compendium hardcover (or a higher reward tier) within the first 72 hours of the campaign, you’ll receive the Spaceholder Bookmarks add-on for free – and, if you grab a copy of Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities, you’ll also get a free Treasure Booster with magic items for 5E D&D.

We use your backer number to confirm that you’ve pledged within the 72-hour mark and you keep your backer number as long as you don’t cancel your pledge. Once the campaign is wrapped up and we send out a survey through Backerkit, we’ll then ask you to confirm that you want your early bird rewards and, assuming you say yes, add them to your order for free :)

How do I choose an add-on?

When you pick a reward tier for your pledge, you’ll get the option to select any add-ons you want. At any time during the campaign, you can also change and add new add-ons by pressing “manage your pledge” followed by “change your pledge”.

If you miss out on an add-on, you’ll also be given the option of adding it after the campaign has ended, when we send out a survey email through our pledge manager Backerkit.

Do I need to select add-ons if they’re already included in my reward tier?

The short answer is NO. If your reward tier includes an add-on, you do not need to add that same add-on again as it is already a part of your pledge.

The only time you’d want to add an add-on that’s already included in your reward tier is if you want multiple sets of that same add-on (such as an additional hardcover copy). In that case, you can pick that add-on as many times as you’d like!

What can I expect to find in The Creator’s Compendium?

The Creator’s Compendium is a 200+ page guide to the wonders of the cosmos, for storytellers, gamemasters, writers, and anyone else curious about the Universe!

Written by Chris Spradlin, a longtime math and science teacher with a Ph.D. in astrophysics, it tackles complex science with humor, stunning art, and visual aids – and provides an easy-to-use toolbox for creating exciting worlds and stories.

The Creator’s Compendium is divided into four sections that—step-by-step—take you on a journey through the known Universe:

– ASTRONOMER’S ALMANAC is a who’s who of basic astronomy, covering everything from stars and moons to the conditions for life on other planets.

– TINKERER’S TOOLBOX explores the mind-boggling concepts of the cosmos – from wormholes and terraforming to supernovae and other world-ending events.

– STORYTELLER’S STUDY provides four unique sample worlds and strange settings using the topics covered in the book’s first sections.

– BUILDER’S BLUEPRINT gives you everything you need to build astounding and realistic worlds from the literal ground up – including easy-to-use checklists, roll tables with adjustable features for star systems, planets, and much, much more!

What can I expect to find in the 5E supplement Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities?

Written by 5E publisher Eventyr Games and Chris Spradlin, Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities turns the cosmic concepts explored in The Creator’s Compendium into 64+ pages of unique content for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

It includes 20+ cosmic monsters, 30+ unique magic items, new races, subclasses, and feats for player characters – as well as a plethora of cosmic challenges such as wormholes, meteorites, and geomagnetic storms, and rules for handling different levels of gravity or exposure to lethal doses of radiation!

Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities is available as an add-on in PDF format and as a hardcover book – both of which are also included in the Creator’s Bundle and Deluxe Bundle reward tiers.

The final page count of Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities is set to increase as various stretch goals add new content to the book – we just don’t want to promise anything we can’t keep, as that’ll depend on how successful the Kickstarter campaign is.

Will Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities for 5E be available as a VTT-module?

We want to say yes, but we’ll have to settle with “perhaps” for now. We really want to make Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities available as a VTT-module, but doing so requires time and effort – so, it’ll depend on the demand and overall success of the Kickstarter campaign.

If we do end up releasing Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities as a VTT-module, it will first become available on Roll20 and Foundry VTT – and, of course, backers will be able to to add it to their pledge in the pledge manager at a discounted price!

How many pages will The Creator’s Compendium and Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities have?

The Creator’s Compendium is currently well above 200 pages while Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities for 5E will be at least 64 pages with the currently planned content – however, the page count of each will (hopefully!) increase as new stretch goals add more content. We just don’t want to make promises we can’t keep!

Does this project use AI art?

Absolutely not! We won’t be using any AI-generated art for this project and every piece of art found in The Creator’s Compendium and Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities is either commissioned by us or carefully selected from high-quality stock art made by talented human artists.

We want to fill The Creator’s Compendium and Mareesha’s Cosmic Curiosities with as much awesome art as we can – and will be commissioning as much art as our funding allows! You can read about the artists we have teamed up with so far for this project in the “About Us” section on our Kickstarter page.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
